Who's Behind Reid Online
My name is Jeff Reid. Based in Cincinnati, the heart of the Ohio River Valley, my goal is to create professional, custom Web sites at a reasonable price for small businesses and entrepreneurs. My years of professional Web development experience include websites for a variety of clients: large corporations, small businesses, professional healthcare organizations, and non-profit groups.

I create sites that are great looking, fast loading, and easy to use, making sure that your information is clearly presented online and easy to find. Your site will be one you will point to with pride. I understand that you may be apprehensive about all the "technical" jargon that is associated with the Internet. It is my job to take your ideas and concepts and convert them into a functioning reality. I will do my best to demystify the process of website development and promise to give fair and impartial advice on all web-related matters.

With over nine years of experience working in the Internet and New Media industry, designing and developing websites and Web-based applications for both consumers and businesses, my skill set is one of great diversity. Most recently I’ve spent the past two and a half years as Web Designer and Webmaster for Hanser Music Group aka HHI Music. Music Trades Magazine, ranked two of our redesigned websites this year in the “Top 140 Music Industry Websites”. The websites for B.C. Rich Guitars and Kustom Amplification were ranked at numbers 47 and 88 respectively. This was a first for Hanser Holdings and HHI Music. I have increased web site traffic to one of these sites by 200% and have shown a steady increase in monthly traffic to the second site as well. Applying traffic building techniques, I increased the BC Rich Support Forum membership from just over 1500 registered members to over 6500 registered members in 11 months.

Prior to this, I spent three years designing user interfaces for the employee training industry and the collaborative software development industry. This consisted of overhauling the UI and look-and-feel of proprietary employee training materials to make suitable for kiosk and CBT systems. I was also involved in integrating third-party branding (co-branding) with the company's products and services.

I am formally trained in graphic and web design and have 9 plus years of experience designing user interfaces for Web applications as well as integrating complex, browser-agnostic, front-end design. My responsibilities have also included user experience research, polling users and clients, and working with engineering teams to ensure the user experience was maintained during product development.

My Internet experience began over ten years ago at Oklahoma State University at Oklahoma City. I enrolled to obtain an Associate's Degree in Computer Sciences with Web Page Design and Web Administration emphasis. While enrolled in OSU-OKC, I worked on-campus in the Technology Building as a computer lab assistant and was also elected to the office of President of the Computer Technology Club. I was given the opportunity to help with several instructors, including the Department Head, Leisa Strong, in their preparations for class and/or assisting the class in the instructor's absence. Having always been interested in both design and technology, I was lucky that the web finally came along and gave me an opprotunity at a great career and a fun, exciting hobby.

Located in Covington, KY., The Orion Company gave me my first job in the Technology field in 1997. As Web Designer, I was responsible for all of the company's new static Internet projects. While at Orion, I developed websites and Internet related products and services for clients including Lex-Air, Frisch's, Fischer Technologies and Milacron.

In early 2004, I accepted my current position of Webmaster for family-owned and operated Hanser Holdings International. HHI Music, as they are also known, own and distribute several brands of musical instruments globally through a network of Domestic Dealers and International Distributors. I am responsible for the operation of all company brand websites which include B.C. Rich Guitars and Kustom Amplification. HHI has recently re-located to Hebron, KY from Delhi, OH (basically just across the Ohio River) and is now known as Hanser Music Group. Under the HMG umbrella of companies are B.C. Rich Guitars, Kustom Amps, Traben Basses, OLP Guitars, Floyd Rose Guitars, Aria Guitars, Michael Kelly Guitars, Customshop Parts, Rockfield Pickups, D'Aquisto Guitars and Davitt-Hanser DIstribution. The Hanser brothers also own a separate division located in the same corporate offices. Ths division manufactures and distributes Multi Zone Whole House Audio Systems. NuVo Technologies and BreathAudio are the two companies which service this sector.

Prior to becoming involved in Internet design and development, I spent 17 years in the Paint and Body industry, mainly in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. As the Lead Painter at Elrod's Paint and Body, I concentrated on high-end sports/luxury automobiles. I also worked exclusively with several professional atheletes to create custom paint work for their "toys". I opened up my own shop for the last five years I was in the business, concentrating mainly on the restoration of old English sports cars including, Morgans, Austin-Healeys, Jaguars, Mercedes and Bentley's and in producing one-of-a-kind, eye-poppin', jaw droppin' custom paint masterpieces on Harley Davidson motorcycles.

-:: My Design Philosophy:
My design principles are simple. If I create a web site for you, I want the site to:

  • be fast loading

  • be simple to navigate

  • look good

  • attract and retain visitors

  • be as accessible as possible

  • meet your needs

  • "Things should be made as simple as possible - but no simpler" - Albert Einstein.

I believe in good web site design. I also believe that less is often more. Far too many sites are bloated with graphics, have terrible navigation, take ages to download and assume that visitors all have the latest plug-ins. I think that simple, fast and user-friendly sites will keep your user's attention and help your business to succeed on the web. As they suggest at one popular web site, as a simple test, try visiting a web site and holding your breath for as long as it takes the home page to load.

As web site designers we all love to try out new techniques and technologies. But that doesn't mean we should use them on all web sites that we design and produce. A sensible balance needs to be struck between the latest "all-singing, all-dancing" technology and the browsers in use by your site visitors. I try to design accessible web sites. I can make a web site as accessible as possible to all users without compromising the look and feel that you want. I create web sites customized to YOUR needs. From small to large sites, I can offer you a completely professional service. I encourage you to contact some of our previous clients and ask them about my services.
